Bio
Stéphanie Probst (1986, Genève) est une artiste et photographe suisse diplômée Master en arts visuels à la HEAD-Genève en 2012. Sa recherche s’articule autour de l’identité, des femmes* et du rapport au corps et de la photographie analogique et expérimentale.
Les procédés photographiques analogiques lui permettent de faire un pas de côté afin de produire des images comme des empreintes de corps ou des portraits sur un temps long, pour sortir des représentations attendues du corps féminin. Ses projets sont réalisés collectivement lors de manifestations ou impliquent la participation active des modèles pour revenir à une relation horizontale entre l’artiste et le public.
Statement
Je cherche à créer des empreintes du réel, dans une démarche documentaire, sans pour autant rechercher la “congruence” visuelle. Dans ma pratique, j’invite le public et mes modèles à collaborer, à jouer avec moi. J’élabore des projets qui impliquent le public, ou l’on crée collectivement. Je m’efforce d’induire de l’horizontalité dans mon approche photographique.

Stephanie Probst is a swiss artist and photographer. She uses pinhole cameras and collaborative analog process to capture events or make portraits. Her practice explores the body of women, collectively and to claim space in the streets.
“As a woman artist and photographer, I use analog and experimental photographic processes. I am interested about people and I do a lot of portraits. In my search I realised I wasn’t happy with most of the snapshots or classical portraits. This is why I tried different approaches to make photographic imprints, with pinhole or chemigrams, exploring duration and others dimensions, outside of the classical visual representation of bodies.”
